Talented photographer, Sylvia Krzysztofek, recently came to the Designkitchen office to take some snazzy shots of DK personalities. Hope you like your picture guys, because this is as good as you can look. See all Faces of DK here: And don’t forget to check out Sylvia’s portfolio: http://www.thisgirlsylvia.com/
Designkitchen and The Society of Typographic Arts were proud to host Cybu Richli, a Swiss designer-artist who has received some of the highest honors in the field (Art Director Club’s Young Guns, Type Director’s Club Award, Swiss Federal Design Award, etc.). Over 40 people attended the event, which took place at DK on the evening of Thursday, March 24th 2011. Several members of DK’s creative team volunteered and attended the event as well. Mr. Richli lectured on the techniques he uses in his unique design of screen prints. You can view a gallery of his work here: http://www.c2f.to/.

We hear great things will be happening at SXSW in Austin, Texas this week, so naturally, we’re sending a few DKers to get in on the action. And hopefully bring back some swag (fingers crossed).
The five-day interactive showcase will feature some of the best and brightest minds in digital and emerging technologies and promises to be the most energetic, inspiring and creative event of the year.
Send us a message on Twitter @designkitchen if you want to meet up in Austin!
WOVOX.com, the site that invites you to discover transparant workplaces and be inspired, asked us to share a bit of our space, online. Come on in and take a look. This is where it all happens, folks. http://wovox.com/workplace/designkitchen/chicago/head-office
OfficeSnapShots, a popular blog that celebrates well-designed office and work spaces from around the globe, recently featured Designkitchen’s warehouse loft space in Chicago’s Fulton Market district.
“Their office has a nice variety of colors and textures that really give it an elegant feel. They’ve got plenty of conference space, great lamps, and great chairs. What’s not to like?”
Looking good (if we do say so ourselves)!
Our partner Wunderman was ranked #10 on the Advertising Age list of shops to watch in 2009. The list is comprised of agencies the venerable publication says show initiative, creative prowess and growth in this troubling market. And within the write-up for Wunderman, Designkitchen was mentioned as a key contributor to that creativity and future growth. We’re a humble group, but seeing our name in print has got us buzzing.
He’s founded an interactive agency, with a total of four kitchens. He’s co-authored an award-winning book. He’s rode through the Baja 500 on a dirt bike. And today, our very own Sam Landers has accomplished something else that no DK man has ever before. He’s turned 50. And, while his first half-century achievements are increasingly admirable, so too is his hair. So, Sam, here’s to the next 50. Your first half looked great but it’s time to bring down the house.

As if they didn’t work hard enough, two of our very own voluntarily dared to work even harder. DK designer, Sarah Roarty and flash developer, Ferro Boyd participated in the USA Today 2010 Cannes Young Lions competition (in their free time) and walked away with third place in the Cyber category! Teams were asked to create ads to activate U.S sports fans’ support for the prevention and treatment of malaria in conjunction with the World Cup. Proud of their award-winning submission and the opportunity to compete, the team says “it challenged us to think unconventionally, come up with ground-breaking ideas and bring them to life in a very short amount of time.” Check out Sarah and Ferro’s impressive work along with their stiff competition.
